Reviews for Miss Aubrey’s Classes
Because she has so many amazing testimonials from current and former students and parents, she needs her own page!
From the Kids…
“I like it here. Everyone is happy and nice and no one is fake. There’s no one sitting out injured, and that’s good. At my old studio everyone had shin splints really bad, or broken ankles or stuff like that. It’s really nice not to have to worry about that anymore.” B Level Student*
Our teacher doesn’t get angry if we get a step wrong, she works with us until we get it right. She cares why it’s wrong. If something physical is the reason, she’ll work hard to help you fix it, instead of just saying you’re lazy or to yell at you.” Academy Level Student*
“The kids at the other ballet school I went to were really mean. They made fun of me, and the teachers didn’t do anything. And the teachers yell at you all the time. No one does that here. Plus the dancers at my old school weren’t even that good. We never got to do real Swan Lake or Coppelia there. “ Academy Level Student*
“Here, the teachers care about you, and make you stop if your muscles are even just tight. They don’t wait till you get injured to do something, that’s what injury prevention means. It means they keep you from getting hurt in the first place. “ A Level Student
*Studied previously at a different dance school.
From the Parents…
“I know that my daughter is safe – physically, mentally, emotionally – at all times. I do not have to worry about her well-being; I have every confidence that she will be well-protected and offered the best learning tools to enable her to perform within the optimal perimeters of safety.
My kids are confident in what they can do, and, more importantly, feel comfortable asking questions. Empowering Minds is not a studio that barks out instructions, intimidates children, or has a negative competitive environment. Children are guided with high regard for what is best for them.” Jacqueline, Parent of Academy Level student
“We chose Empowering Minds because of my child’s previous experience. Both my daughter and I were not happy with the quality of training and the verbal/mental abuse she had to put up with from her teacher during each class. We wanted to find a school where my daughter did not have to compete with other students for attention from the teacher.” Mother of A Level student
“Not only have my daughters been learning classic ballet dance from a very caring and concerned teacher, they have also learned real French.
With schools eliminating, or limiting the variety of classes children can choose from, I am thrilled that my daughters can speak an additional language. As a matter of fact, a mother informed me that my preschool daughter was teaching her friends French on the playground at recess and her friends were so excited that they would go home and share what they learned. The parents were praising the classroom teacher, but it was quickly found out who the real teacher was- my three year old!!
I would pick Aubrey's dance classes over any other dance studio. There are uniforms for the girls to wear - it is not a fashion show, the girls are there to learn. Age groups are very important because the muscles of young developing girls are not able to withstand the stress of certain moves that older ballet dancers do - thus modification and proper form is first and foremost.” Maria L, Parent of a Wee Dance Student and A Level Student.
“My daughter's teacher is a gentle, intelligent lady who fosters her students as human beings as well as dancers. My daughter has never lost the joy in dance that she had as a young girl -- she looks forward to classes and works hard to achieve her goals. She's gone from an absolute beginner to advanced work here, with a teacher who encourages her every step of the way.
I have another child who also takes occasional classes to help keep her body 'even' and prevent injury from imbalances created by her sport -- she finds the beginner ballet lessons very useful.
The primary concern of the instructor is her students' safety and well-being. They are taught proper dance technique, and there is a strong focus on injury prevention. In addition, students are taught the history of dance, dance anatomy, geography and French language. They also have fun!” Parent of A Level and Academy Level students
“It is truly the only place you would want your child. Not only for ballet, but for language development, supportive environment, and exceptional cognitive development. Empowering Minds is a wonderful place to be that adds a supportive role for emotional and social development. All three of my daughters have benefited immensely from the instructor's devotion to her craft, knowledge and research. My youngest has enjoyed every moment-even the difficult times of training her muscles and learning the intricate placement of her toes. I am grateful that the teacher uses that same sense of academia in her classroom because, after all, our children are learning a difficult and disciplined art form. Finally, the instructor changed the mindset of one of my teenaged daughters from not enjoying ballet (as a non-particpating observer) to a teenager who loves class so much that she looks more forward to than her sister who has always had a love of dance.
